The Executive Steward oversees the stewarding department, kitchen and equipment. Directs staff in the proper use of chemicals and supplies; set up, dish up and breakdown of the Kitchen and all cleaning equipment; maintains and supervises the cleaning program and the cleanliness of work areas; maintaining control of dishes, glassware and utensil inventory. The position will also be responsible for assuring kitchen operation meets internal audit standards; manage the department within budget. Monitoring payroll hours and reports; selecting, training, supervising, scheduling, developing team members according to Spectra policies and procedures.

Provides direction and supervision to hourly stewarding and utilities staff.

Develop and manage a cleaning and maintenance schedule for the kitchen and coolers.

Controls inventories of food, equipment, and china, glassware and smallware.

Evaluate and maintain food service equipment to ensure it is in working condition.

Oversee compost program in partnership with building operations management.

Inventory and control of cleaning supplies, including chemical supplies.

Maintains a positive and compliant employee relations climate.

Ensures compliance with health, sanitation, safety and employment regulations by clearly communicating standards and procedures to all staff.

Maintain a clean and organized back of house areas for the food and beverage operation.

Attend meetings and communicate with senior-level leadership, peers, and subordinates as an effort to improve quality of service.


Past experience working in a kitchen, building maintenance, or banquet facility.

Ability to read Event Orders.

Ability to positively communicate and create a productive work climate with other co-workers & managers

Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize in a continuously changing event environment.

Ability to give direction.

Ability to work a flexible event-based schedule including nights, weekends and long hours.

3 -5 years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

High School Diploma or equivalent
