About the Position::

The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Payroll Specialist at our Corporate Office in Greensboro, North Carolina (099). The Payroll Specialist will handle the day-to-day activities of the payroll department including the process of reviewing and loading payroll data on a weekly basis.  In addition, this roll will provide exceptional customer service to TFM store employees, via email and telephone, on payroll items within the scope of the duties assigned.

What You'll Do::

Process bi-weekly payroll for multi-state hourly and salary employees as supported by our Payroll Run Book.

Calculate payroll adjustments for retro-active salary changes (mis-punches)

Review, verify and adjust time records and employee structure in the Kronos payroll system.

Identify and resolve time clock issues and support Store Managers in the approval process.

Liaise with assigned stores to resolve inquiries with urgency and discretion.

Make appropriate updates to employee details based on supporting instruction from HR and Benefits.

Scan and index payroll records.

Assign and calculate taxes for both work in and residential taxes.

Have knowledge of and accurately apply state required Sick Leave, Vacation/Premium Pay and and minor restrictions.

Interpret and apply garnishments for federal, state and other agencies. Including distribution of payments and required communications with agencies and employees.

As part of validation, calculate payments from Gross to net, considering shift differentials and premium pay, deductions (both taxed and pre-tax), and wage garnishments.


High School Diploma.

2+ years of payroll related experience.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimum supervision.
