Staff Accountant

We are seeking a Staff Accountant for our office in the Galleria area of Houston.  In this role, you will file state sales and use tax, business license and taxes, state annual business filings, property taxes. You will also compile and prepare materials for submission to the applicable regulatory agencies. In addition, you will assist in gathering data for federal and state income taxes and external audits.  Accounting areas of responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, bank reconciliations, home office bank deposits, documentary stamp tax filings and escheatment. This position will work in the Corporate Accounting Department and report to the Director of Accounting. 


Assist in the preparation of regulatory submissions.

Compile and maintain regulatory documentation.

Assist with the preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales taxes

Assist with the annual preparation personal property renditions

Assist with the timely payment of business, property, and sales tax

Assist in the maintenance of the business license database

Participate in external audits

Prepare additional information or responses as requested by regulatory agencies

Review bank reconciliations prepared by the offshore team and ensure that any reconciling items are resolved in a timely manner

Prepare, review and file monthly documentary stamp tax with regulatory agency.

Prepare daily deposits of checks received in Home Office

Monitor incomplete deposits made by the locations and their resolution

Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent

Sales tax experience is a plus

Proficiency in Excel

Familiarity with MAS software a plus

Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail

Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Ability to work within established timeframes/deadlines

A high level of honesty and integrity
