Clerical Associate, Home Care

NYU LANGONE HOSPITAL-LONG ISLAND is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center, which offers sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in virtually every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery. We are a major regional healthcare resource with a deep commitment to medical education and research, offering a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services.



POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clerical Associate, Home Care.



In this role, the successful candidate Performs billing functions, and facilitates receipt of signed physician orders, and face to face forms. Troubleshoots complex claim issues, collaborates with the clinical staff and the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS C) team to expedite claim submission. Follows commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid billing regulations. Adheres to policies, procedures and HIPAA regulations.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



* Processes Physician orders and face to face forms by fax, mail and hand delivery.

* Performs other duties as assigned

* Investigates and follows up on bill holds, time and travel, denials, appeals for orders or billing errors.

* Performs data entry in OASIS C, relating to vouchers, bills, and invoices. Enters data into Excel spreadsheets.

* Obtains insurance verification, eligibility, authorizations and enters notes into the electronic medical Record (EMR) as required.

* Utilizes reports for accurate and timely tracking of orders and troubleshoots or escalates issues to ensure compliance with billing practices.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify you must have a High School or GED. General office skills, and/or billing. 1 - 2 years General office experience, and/or billing. Excellent communication (both oral and written), organizational, customer service skills. General computer skills, especially Excel.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1 2 years Home care environment office experience.
