Community Engagement Specialist


The Community Engagement Specialist is the face and voice of the company and its State Public Programs (Medicaid). This is a highly visible role, with an emphasis on maintaining and developing organizational relationships. The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for both establishing and continuing to build partnerships and meaningful relationships with organizations throughout the state, focusing on those organizations that support underrepresented populations served.


Represent the company at coalition and community group meetings, health fairs, public forums, and private events.

Search for and identify appropriate partnerships to reach more communities and strengthen community relationships. Conduct meaningful and intentional outreach activities with these organizations.

Develop, organize, and facilitate meetings, discussion groups, ongoing workshops and other special events, including member stakeholder meetings.

Share information and learnings about community issues, preferences and needs with key internal stakeholders and leaders, along with recommendations for needed changes.

Maintain consistent records and documentation of key metrics, member engagement, community based organization (CBO) engagement, and other activities in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.


Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.

At least 3 years' experience in community organization, outreach, advocacy, or housing.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with others.

Excellent public speaking skills with the capacity to serve as a spokesperson for the organization.

Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task on a daily basis.

Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint), as well virtual platforms (e.g. WebEx, Zoom).

This person should be comfortable meeting new people, developing relationships with a diverse group of partners, and working closely with the entire State Public Programs team.
