General Manager 5 - Catering

Sodexo is seeking an experienced General Manager,  Catering / Catering Director to handle our Catering Department for a new sale located in Boston, MA. RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE!


We will deliver a wide range of services at this location such as numerous micro-markets throughout the campus, 2 cafes, high end catered events, and food trucks. This position oversees all catering on campus and will directly supervise 4 Catering Managers and roughly 70 hourly Sodexo Union employees. The General Manager of Catering will have fiscal responsibility of roughly $16-18M in total annual managed volume for this premier account.


This position will report directly to the District Manager (Account lead), and will be responsible for day to day leadership of the Catering Department at the location. We are seeking candidates (with experience leading large trams…) that can lead a large team of catering associates/staff, union experience, and multi-unit experience. This individual should be able to possess the skills to be able to handle events from boxed lunches all the way to high-end receptions, and C-Level plated dinners. We are expecting a high level of executive presence, strong client skills, and someone to be able to build relationships with the community.

Success in this role and in the relationship will require you to:

Deliver exceptional customer service   

Oversee all day to day food and nutrition services in a multi-unit location

Integrate fully within our client's organization becoming a trusted adviser and member of the accounts leadership team

Achieving company and client financial targets and goals including managing subsidy

Work to achieve continuous improvement in customer service satisfaction scores

Meet (or exceed) Sodexo standards of operations

Client relations/Financial acumen

Grow and develop onsite operations team

Experience with both casual and fine dining catering/banquet management

Prior high volume catering service experience

Experience training and leading a catering staff

Experience with catering set up and execution

Experience writing (and costing) catering menus

Experience coordinating and executing multiple events daily

Experience with labor controls, managing catering inventory and using catering software

Excellent customer and client relations skills

Excellent organization skills and attention to detail

An ability to transform spaces and create an experience for guests

The ability to work with clients on creating events to their exacting detail

Culinary acumen is preferred

Union experience preferred

Position Summary:
