Pilot Plant Technician

An animal health organization is looking to hire a Pilot Plant Technician to support their growing team. DESCRIPTION:Position Department Description: The TS/MS fermentation pilot plant provides process development support to existing manufacturing of Animal Health and Biosynthetic fermentation products. The mission of the pilot plant is to support manufacturing by identifying process or strain changes that will improve process productivity, improve product quality, or reduce manufacturing costs. JOB DESCRIPTION: In this role, the Sr. Technician will support Animal Health Fermentation Development process improvement activities in the B82 TS/MS Fermentation Pilot Plant. This individual will serve as the lead technician for one of the processes under development in the pilot plant. The Sr. Technician is responsible for both hands-on work and technical oversight of all activities related to the fermentation process.KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES: Primary responsibility for one of the pilot-scale fermentation models (planning work, operating 150 L equipment, data gathering, analysis, and problem solving). More broadly provide technical or hands-on support to other groups within the pilot plant (weekend sampling, feed system maintenance, utilities, etc.) Provide laboratory support to 150 L operations including sample prep, media prep, growth studies, and sample analysis.BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Fermentation pilot plant or production hands-on experience High level of self-management and ability to work independently. Experience working in a laboratory setting. Experience with spreadsheets and statistical software (JMP, Excel) Previous experience writing technical documents (technical reports, SOPs, processing tickets) Demonstrated ability to work with others and willingness to work within a cross-functional team to deliver development study results High level of attention to detail and work safe practicesADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Must Haves:1) B.S/A.S Degree with 6+ months of laboratory experience or 12+ with no degree2) Demonstrate strong communication, documentation, and math skills3) Proficiency with computers4) Attention to detail lending to the ability to work well in a highly regulated environmentPAY: $20-$25/hourSHIFT: 1st (7am-430pm) Monday-Friday - one weekend a month may be required as business needs arise LOCATION: Indianapolis, INIf you or someone you know is interested in learning more details about this exciting new opportunity, apply here or reach out to me directly at .
