In Scope
1. Commission and/or directly manage/deliver qualitative and/or quantitative research activity to obtain high quality insight into key audiences
2. Deliver independent advice to inform campaigns and provide credibility on approach
3. Provide clear and up to date understanding of audience motivations, barriers and behaviours
4. Champion the voice of the audience and challenge creative development and/or other communication activities that do not meet their needs
5. Identify and raise risks early and make clear recommendations to inform direction of work
6. Provide expert advice on campaign evaluation, with tailored support as appropriate (complete ownership through to light touch consultancy)
Skills (including specialist skills) and/or knowledge required:
1. Has solid research and analysis skills including experience of a wide range of research methodologies
2. Can carry out effective desk research to inform decision making
3. Is comfortable working with data and can draw evidence-based conclusions and recommendations from datasets and from looking across different data sources
4. Can confidently and clearly communicate research findings, verbally and in writing
5. Understands the key elements of a research brief, can translate policy objectives into communications and research objectives, and has experience of commissioning research against the specified objectives
6. Can represent the voice of the target audience from project inception to completion
7. Has experience of using low-cost/no-cost approaches to research and evaluation
8. Ideally, has experience of using online survey tools and social media analytics and monitoring tools
Qualifications and Experience required:
1. Educated to degree level and/or a relevant professional qualification.
2. Has public sector research/insight experience, either client-side in local or central government or agency-side with public sector clients
3. Has communications research and evaluation experience
