Senior Buyer A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Buyer to join a specialist, market leading manufacturing company based in Dorset.
The company have an established record of accomplishment in manufacturing high quality engineering products for a variety of industries.
The Buyer will come from a previous buying/purchasing role within the manufacturing/engineering field and hold a CIPS qualification.
An understanding of an MRP System is essential, as well as a background in driving improvements to OTIF.
Senior Buyer Responsibilities: Maintain awareness of world markets and emerging material related issues in the industry and position the supply chain to flexibly respond accordingly.
Leverage supplier capabilities in product design, cost reduction, lead time reduction and customer satisfaction.
Work closely with the site supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams to proactively identify and develop external capability to support strategic out-sourcing opportunities.
Plan and monitor implementation of re-sourcing and out-sourcing initiatives to successfully prime supplier’s supply chains for initial production to ensure uninterrupted flow of product to customers as required.
Obtain competitive bids, analyze costs and negotiate/award contracts to vendors on the basis of total costs to the company commensurate with financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.
Leverage technology solutions to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the strategic sourcing process.
Drive continuous improvement in the supply base by communicating objective performance metrics, focused on lead time reduction, on-time delivery improvement, quality improvement, and cost reduction.
Provide effective support to new product introduction teams, proposal development and subcontracting opportunities as they develop.
Senior Buyer Requirements: Strong Purchasing background with experience in Procurement in an Engineering environment Exposure to machined parts and castings would be beneficial Strong negotiation skills Solid background in supply management, with strong discipline in supplier cost avoidance Desirable Qualities include: CIPS qualified/MRP experience Previous experience in aerospace would be highly desirable Ability to drive and travel to suppliers - international travel may be required Why Should You Apply?
