Staff Accountant Location : Phoenix, AZ Salary/Pay : $70-90K Type: Direct Hire : Senior Staff Accountant Senior Staff Accountants in this position are advanced level associates with an educational background in accounting, financial statement preparation, tax preparation and tax law.
Work is performed with a minimum of supervision.
Responsibilities increase with demonstrated skill.
Summary Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
Develop, implement, modify, and document record keeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Report to management regarding the finances of the establishment.
Supervisory responsibilities Frequently directs and instructs staff accountants, where applicable, regarding work to be performed.
Takes the lead in client contact Qualifications: Mathematics: knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their applications.
Economics and Accounting : Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and the reporting of financial data.
Customer service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
English language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
Computer skills: Knowledge of current computer systems and appropriate software including applications necessary to carry out accounting functions.
Education, certifications , etc.: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, working on all other requirements and preparing to sit for or have already started taking sections of the CPA exam.
At least 3 years in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of accounting tasks and tax knowledge.
