Job Number: 192561 Department: Pharmacy - Hospital Hours: 7am to 3:30pm This position is responsible for leading the operations of the hospital based pharmaceutical services including the inpatient nursing units, operating rooms, radiology and procedure areas.
Ensures compliance with federal and state laws and all non-governmental regulatory agencies.
Duties may include: ??Provides leadership for operational management for multiple hospital based areas of pharmaceutical services to ensure the proper preparation and distribution of drugs and to assure that medications are used safely and effectively.
Assures that lean manufacturing concepts are applied to ensure efficient processes are in place and minimize waste.
Creates and maintains medication management policies and procedures for the pharmaceutical services.
Plans, manages, and monitors the operating and capital budgets for the hospital based departments.
Provides oversight for expense management, reconciling of drug purchases against utilization, investigating variances, documenting causes and action plans.
Actively involved in both departmental and medical center priorities to assure strong economics.
Works collaboratively with pharmaceutical purchasing and contracting interests.
? ??Develops and implements strategic plans for hospital based areas and ensures that they are aligned with organizational goals.
Plans include objectives, strategies, and tactics to achieve the planned goals with objective metrics to assess ongoing performance.
??Performs all aspects of human resource management, including recruitment and retention, analyzing staff mix and deploying staff, ensuring competency of staff through development and regular evaluation, and providing disciplinary counseling.
Provide leadership and mentoring within the pharmacy and to other medical center areas.
??Provides ongoing assessment and improvement of pharmacy operations.
This includes identifying, designing, implementing, improving, and monitoring both existing and new pharmacy programs and services to better serve patient needs.
Assures that the systems pertaining to pharmaceutical use are current and meet the needs of the medical center.
Provides oversight for compliance with federal and state laws and all non-governmental regulatory agencies.
??Works in an interdependent manner with suppliers, vendors, caregivers, providers, business partners and other departments to develop and maintain relationships and processes that assist the department and medical center attain goals.
??Works collaboratively with the Manager of Sterile Compounding to ensure that all pharmacy staff are appropriately trained, competent, following policy and standard work, and compliant with state and federal regulations.
??Provide oversight for safe medication practices and compliance with regulatory standards.
This includes periodic auditing and reviewing documentation to validate performance.

? Qualifications: This position requires a Pharm D or Bachelors in Pharmacy.
Also required is 5 years of relevant pharmacy manager experience with increasing management responsibility.
This experience should demonstrates extensive practice and business knowledge, organization, delegation, teambuilding and communication skills, and an in depth understanding of budgets and planning.
This may include appropriate certifications and training programs.
Licensure requirements for this position include a Washington State Pharmacists and a Preceptor license Advanced degree beyond Bachelors or Pharm D is preferred Completion of a Pharmacy Residence Program is preferred.
