This Director level position is analytical, operational, and requires excellent leadership skills.
Specifically, the person in this position provides: technical, financial and risk analysis for our payer contracts; directs both administrative and financial aspects of our Centers of Excellence program with various large employers; and provides direction and oversight to a team of payment integrity auditors.
The person in this position touches all aspects of our payer contracts and provides strategic analysis to inform negotiations.
This individual has frequent contact with payer and employer partners, both in an operational and negotiation capacity.
The person in this position will serve as a financial expert and finance leader for our Accountable Care Organizations, as well as direct ongoing integration efforts of the payer contracting and payment integrity audit functions between Virginia Mason Medical Center and Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital in Yakima.
This person provides input and expertise to other financial areas throughout the organization, including but not limited to: revenue cycle, budget and reporting, analytics, service lines, finance, accounting and strategic development.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in in relevant field including health administration, business or accounting.
Six to eight years in healthcare preferably in a payer contracting or financial analytics role.
Three to five years in a management role.
Preferred qualifications include: Master's degree in relevant field including health administration, business or accounting.
Knowledge of CMS and common payer payment methodologies.
Experience with Lean methodologies preferred.
This job requires extensive knowledge of the health care industry, as well as expertise in payer contracting.
Requires knowledge of Centers of Excellence contracting and bundled payment administration and understanding of how small changes in contracts may have operational ramifications, risks, or provide opportunities.
This job requires strong interpersonal, technical and communication skills, an advanced strategic perspective, and good negotiation skills.
Role requires collaborative and an effective leadership/influence.
Job interact and communicate with executives, department heads both internally and externally.
Requires organization and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities/projects.
The ability to brainstorm creative solutions and direct operational leaders to implement changes is critical.
Job requires strong technical skills and ability to accomplish various financial modeling tasks.
