Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.You will “wear two hats” in this role, both shaping global content policy for the world’s largest video platform while ensuring the Global Content Policy Team is meeting and tracking progress toward its strategic objectives, prioritizing smartly, and building partnerships with cross-functional partners.
As a Policy Lead, you will shape how YouTube’s Community Guidelines evolve to ensure that our content policies are clear to the YouTube community, effective in keeping that community safe, and scalable across our global platform.
You will conduct research into new trends on YouTube, ensuring that our policy development is rigorous, anticipative, and focused.
Finally, you will also help keep the Global Content Policy team running smoothly by supporting our strategic planning, quarterly prioritization process, and keeping cross-functional partners and leadership informed on our progress.

Responsibilities Conduct research for developing new policies and understanding emerging risks through content analysis, subject matter expert sourcing and engagement, YouTube creator interviews, and internal stakeholder engagement.
Manage team’s quarterly prioritization processes, tracking team performance, and providing cross-functional updates/bulletins on the team’s efforts Write, maintain, and update our global policies in various areas of online content.
Lead trainings and conduct rigorous content review for testing enforcement guidelines and training efficacy for new policiesWork closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication of our policies to our global teams, and support effective ways to operationalize at scale with high quality.Monitor external trends worldwide to keep our business abreast of evolving industry standards, determine new policy needs as they arise, and develop global expertise on specific online policy issues.
Qualifications Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.5 years experience in online policy or tech-related legal/regulatory frameworks.
Experience applying logical thinking, and making global problems clear and accessible to diverse audiences.
Experience working with international teams, diverse global stakeholders, and executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions.Preferred qualifications:Experience building consensus across cross-functional teams and stakeholders globally through strong people skills.Experience with SQL.Research, writing, general quantitative analytics, and oral communication and presentation skills.Ability to speak and write in another language fluently and idiomatically.
