The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Suitability clearance, per contract requirements.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on systems engineer/administrator on the data ingestion platform (SEC Feeds) with the Enterprise Data Warehouse team, which manages Big Data services at the SEC.
This small team works closely with Federal leads, project managers, line managers, data analysts, coders and other stakeholders to manage workload, resolve problems, and identify innovative solutions.Duties and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to, the following:Supporting the client in formulating policies, procedures, and standards related to the administration, management and operation of the SEC Feeds platform.Administering and maintaining the SEC Feeds platform:Maintaining existing SEC Feeds scripts to meet the changing business needs.Setting up, maintaining, and administering scheduler jobs.Communicating with data providers to set up data ingestion procedures; developing new data ingestion/transfer scripts.Working with SEC offices and data providers to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve scripting, connectivity and data processing issues.Handling and prioritizing requests from internal and external customers; manually executing scripts on a daily, weekly, monthly basis; fulfilling ad-hoc business requests for data pulls/pushes.
To qualify, you must have these basic qualifications, proficiencies and experience:BS or equivalent and 7 years of related experience in system administration, programming, working with schedulers.Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment (preferably Red Hat).Proficiency with the development and maintenance of data ingestion/transfer scripts in Python, Perl, shell (bash, korn).Experience with the administration of workflow and job schedulers (knowledge of Rundeck is desirable but not mandatory).Knowledge of and experience with data security practices (file encryption, file system permissions, ssh certificates) and file transfer protocols.Knowledge of IBM’s ConnectDirect (desirable but not mandatory).Depending on the successful candidate’s proficiencies, range of skills, relevant experience and certifications, this position can be filled at either the Mid or Senior level.Scheduled Weekly Hours:40Telecommuting Options:Work Location:USA DC WashingtonAdditional Work Locations:For more than 50 years, General Dynamics Information Technology has served as a trusted provider of information technology, systems engineering, training, and professional services to customers across federal, state, and local governments, and in the commercial sector.
