The Mental Health Technician provides monitoring of patients in order to ensure a safe environment, notifies the Registered Nurse of any health or mental change of a patient and assists the nursing staff with the transfer, admissions and discharges of patients.
Conducts 15-minute patient safety checks of patients and completes vital signs as needed.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Consistently provides supervision for assigned patients.
Clearly documents observations of patient behavior.
Ensures safety of patient at all times.
Ensures Patients Rights and Confidentiality are maintained.
Escorts patients to events away from the facility such as Emergency Room or clinician office as necessitated by their physical condition.
Promotes a positive working environment by demonstrating respect and tolerance for age, gender, race and choice of lifestyle.
Promotes, by education and example, a therapeutic environment.
Job Requirements Job Requirements: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be 21 years or older.
One year of experience in a psychiatric setting/patient care preferred.
Experience in leading basic group or Master Treatment Plan preferred.
Good communication skills.
Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
Good leadership qualities which includes self-control, patience, and empathy.
New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Must successfully pass background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check) and drug screen.
