Summary/Purpose: Manage overall cost accounting processes and function to achieve operational excellence by optimizing financial reporting and its alignment to the production processes, financial statements, budgets and inventories.
Directly reporting to the Business Unit Controller, working with other department staff and various levels of plant management & staff.
Essential Duties: Accountable for compliance to corporate cost accounting standards and methodology.
Participate, prepare, and upload product cost standards; and ensure accuracy of data in cost system with product specification engineering standards through audit and frequent observation.
Prepare costs for new product quotes based on engineering standards and update standards accordingly.
Periodical (monthly, quarterly, annual) cost and manufacturing accounting responsibilities including detailed analysis of actual production, volume, material, variable and fixed costs to budget and prior period.
Analyze actual operating results for variances to standard (detail cost elements including material, labor, overhead), scrap, and other performance measurements (capacity, utilization, etc) and work with plant personnel in identifying opportunities for improvement.
Provide detailed insights on cost drivers and production impacts of various initiatives both proposed and implemented.
Participate in the preparation of the annual budget process with emphasis on updating product costs.
Support plant budget and forecast process in the areas of machine utilization, production hours, labor and overhead rates.
Coordinate all physical inventories (inventory & fixed assets) and insure proper assets management Work with third party utility and freight system and analyze the related costs.
Coordinate the capital expenditure planning and implementation; track the individual project status until completion and capitalization.
Actively participates in the continuous improvement process by identifying and addressing any opportunities to reduce cost, improve product/process and/or improve overall operations Assist Plant Controllers in the close cycle (monthly, quarterly, yearly) and reporting process, responsible for cost related reconciliation and reporting in different system.
Assist in annual and other external and internal audits.
Prepare other business reports as necessary.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Possesses Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or business related subject; or 5 years cost accounting related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPA, CMA or CFM considered a plus.
Possesses strong math aptitude, work accurately with numbers, good organization skills and time / priority management skills.
Strong analytical ability and thorough understanding of computer systems and accounting principles.
