Lead the deployment of measurement systems for the tracking and continuous improvement of equipment and operational performance.
Major/Key Accountabilities Work closely with our sawmilling and NPM partners to assist them with technical and process issues to improve capacity and quality.
Develops and manages capex for all Saw and NPM improvement projects.
Identify, evaluate, and recommend changes or improvements in operational process, procedures, and equipment and provide data to support these changes.
Provide hands on support to our suppliers with equipment installation, maintenance and improvement.
Assist suppliers with implementing machine downtime and maintenance records Develop project plans and successfully execute them in accordance with established timelines, cost and performance standards.
Ensure that projects meet safety regulations and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate training of on-site personnel as needed for system operation and maintenance.
Lead programs to monitor and improve Process Reliability, MTBF and MTTR on equipment across the network.
Assist in the preparation of reports, cost studies and presentations.
Countries: US of Direct Reports: 0 Travel extensively within North America for a few days up to a few weeks at a time.
Potential to travel internationally as required.
Help in sawmill operations and troubleshooting, preventing maintenance, and/or lumber production activities.
Collaborate in field data collection efforts targeting productivity improvements.
Coordinate with other stakeholders to implement plant upgrade and automation.
Qualifications/Experience Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience in the Field 5-7 years of “hands on” technical engineering experience in a sawmill or related industry Demonstrated process improvement experience Construction experience Experience installing, maintaining and improving industrial equipment Process/plant simulation (Arena or similar) Skills and Knowledge Sawmilling experience/Aptitude and working knowledge on lumber manufacturing operation and methods Outstanding communication and negotiation skills Understanding of industrial automation and controls Lean Manufacturing Project Management Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards Must be able to work in manufacturing plants located at remote areas for extended periods of time without air conditioning in industrial plants and noisy environment.
