Product Development Manager - Chemicals Manufacturer
Up to £70k per annum
This is a broad and varied positon which requires a candidate from a range of overlapping backgrounds including: chemicals, technical and project management. You will be heading up a team of 4 technicians and scientists/engineers, so management experience is essential as is an ability to work in a hands-on capacity with a diverse range of projects running concurrently.
Core role requirements include, but are not limited to:
Shape, plan and deliver projects to ensure milestones and deliverables are met within timeline, resource and budgetary constraints - alongside the regulatory requirements expected from operating in a tightly controlled ISO setting (ISO 13485).
Build and lead the project delivery team ensuring that any non-conformances or deviations are flagged to Quality team and all SOP's and quality standards are adhered to.
Liaison with the Operations team to manage introduction of new products and processes to be built into the mainstream manufacturing protocol
Risk mitigation - working alongside the SLT to ensure effective stakeholder management around resources, budgets and schedules for project delivery.
Put together a plan for the objectives for the department, set KPI's and ensure they are achievable and measurable.
Work alongside the Sales team to create adequate technical briefs to be supplied to customers such that accurate proposals can be delivered at RFQ stage.
Attend and support exhibitions.
Ensure that projects are audit-ready and passable through external regulatory authorities.
Projects will be managed with technical rigour according to techniques such as 3D, CAE, FEA, CFD, rapid prototyping etc.
BSc or above in a chemical engineering, mechanical or chemistry discipline.
You will have spent at least 3 years in a technical management capacity ideally within pharma or life science manufacturing organisation.
Well-developed appreciation of process and product design techniques with a proven track record of successful and timely delivery of new products from concept to market through use of formal NPD structure in a highly regulated environment.
Able to demonstrate success in change-management.
Full and varied understanding of both scientific and engineering principles pertinent to the products such that you can lead the department credibly.
Excellent analytical and reasoning skills and exemplary skills with the following techniques: 3D CAD, mathematical modelling FEA, CFD, FMECA, QFD.
Well-developed project management skills and use of packages such as MSP or Prince II.
Experience of compiling and maintaining records of technical documents.
