Job Description Job Title: Technical Buyer Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire.
Package: £32,000 - £35,000 plus benefits Contract Type: Permanent Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager As Technical Buyer, thisrole requires the candidate to build an adequate technical-commercial understanding of the product range and ensure that products are sourced according to the technical drawing & specifications.
Requires managing inventory levels in-keeping with past usage trends and customer forecasts.
Build a professional relationship with suppliers and able to negotiate best prices & terms in order to support winning new business.
The role involves all aspects of Procurement activities from placing orders, expediting and coordinating deliveries with suppliers on a daily basis.
Responsibilities: Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery or timely resolution of delays & shortages, effective communication to ensure mitigation of future potential problems Monitor and maintain inventory levels, Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule changes.
Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships with good effective & timely communication.
Gain knowledge of Product application / understand & interpret Technical drawings, Part numbers and Updating system with latest product revisions.
Purchase materials & components in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.
Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operation Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships, negotiate best outcomes, Proactively work to expedite material orders and deliveries, taking actions to escalate appropriately when any risk is identified or agreed delivery schedules are impacted.
Evaluate areas of opportunity to reduce costs where possible, propose ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance to company guidelines & purchasing policies QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 5 - 6 years Purchasing experience in an engineering company as a Technical / Engineering Buyer preferably in electronics or Telecommunications field.
Able to understand engineering terms & drawings.
Attention to detail is essential.
Should have an analytical & methodical approach to problem solving, with good numerical & data analysing ability.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint).
Experience of ERP or MRP software/ Oracle Net suite etc would be an advantage.
CIPS level 4 or higher will be an advantage.
Effective communication and follow-up skills, Strong drive and resilience.
Must be a team player and solution focused.
Ability to work on own initiative, making decisions, managing own workload and time, whilst developing effective and supportive relationships with work colleagues and suppliers.
