Director, Digital Marketing

To lead the digital marketing vision, strategy, and execution across PPG

businesses and markets to help accelerate PPG s digital transformation.

Tactically the role will be responsible for maximizing profitable online

conversions at the lowest cost possible. Strategically s/he will be responsible

for leveraging PPG s digital properties to create a competitive

differentiator that will promote customer loyalty and deliver our brand

promise. S/he will also be responsible for maximizing qualified traffic through

judicious use of paid media, organic search, display, retargeting, social,

affiliate and other relevant digital marketing channels.

PPG Digital team is leading PPG and the coatings industry through an evolution

in PPG s business strategies and structure - to capture opportunities enabl

by digital technologies and provide amazing customer experiences while

unlocking new revenue streams and reaching new customers.

This is a global role requiring 20-30% travel. It is based in Pittsburgh, PA



The Digital Marketing Director will be responsible for:

* Leading the digital marketing vision, strategy, and execution globally

for PPG.

* Building a digital marketing center of excellence that designs and

executes a framework across all relevant/prioritized channels (paid

search, organic search, email, affiliate, on-site merchandizing, display,

retargeting and mobile). The framework would clearly define how campaigns

should be created, executed, measured and optimized.

* Partner with sales and marketing across PPG businesses to understand

their priorities and strategic plan in order to identify and deliver

solutions in the digital space that meets their needs.

* Collaborate with regional/business and cross-functional leadership to

define the optimal balance between driving global, regional, and local

campaigns. This would vary by country/region and also by digital

marketing channel.

* Improving qualified traffic to PPG s digital assets and optimizing th

traffic stream based on conversion and average order value maximizing

profitable sales via all of PPG s channels (digital, offline).

* Driving new customer acquisition via digital marketing channels and

improving the retention and value of existing customers.

* Driving an effective balance in the use of external agency and in-house

resources, while structuring the program in an appropriate manner to gain

global efficiencies while driving regional and local performance. Part of

this would involve understanding current agency usage across business/

regions and building a roadmap for agency consolidation.

* Building and managing PPG level relationships with all digital marketing

agencies and key digital marketing partners eg Google.

* Developing and nurturing a world-class digital marketing team that will

scale and thrive as the value contribution through the channel grows.

* Ensuring that digital marketing tactics (eg SEO best practices) are well

integrated into PPG s digital product development processes

* Driving adoption of digital marketing best practices within PPG.

* Managing the relationship with the business sales, marketing and digital


* Building a center of excellence that supports PPG businesses around the

globe, placing and managing internal/partner resources as appropriate in

various markets.

* Be an evangelist for Digital introduce new innovative ideas, tools

and processes to really drive Digital to the forefront of our go-to

market channels.


PPG is looking for an executive who is passionate about digital with:

* A minimum of 10 years of digital/marketing experience working on

established, heavily trafficked, B2B/B2C websites.

* Proven track record demonstrating the ability to build digital marketing

teams, design relevant and effective frameworks that deliver business


* Specific in-depth and hands-on knowledge and experience in search

marketing (PPC, SEO), email marketing, display, retargeting and affiliate

marketing at a management level minimum.

* Track record in driving revenue and customer acquisition targets via

digital marketing on a global basis.

* Experience in managing large PPC budgets with market leading bid

management tools such as Marin and Kenshoo.

* Proven experience in A/B and multivariate testing.

* Experience in using tools for: PPC, SEO, merchandizing, email marketing,

display, retargeting, web analytics among others.

* Experience with further building an omnichannel business of services on a

global basis, developing an established brand and nurturing new growth



* A seasoned leader who has built and motivated teams in international,

non hierarchical settings, he/she will have demonstrated hands-on

leadership style with exceptional influencing skills.

* Possesses a balance of intellect and intuition. Is capable of leading in

a dynamic environment, and bringing the capabilities and management

approaches that are expected in global businesses over $15 billion, while

preserving the entrepreneurialism, employee dedication and customer focus

of the existing structure. This requires a drive for results, cultural

sensitivity and a fairly low ego to balance the needs of the entire


* Able to operate effectively in a complex environment with occasional

competing priorities across multiple projects, process owners, users

and clients expectations, and IT roadmaps.

* A track record of managing innovation, developing and applying creative

solutions to business problems, anticipating situations and needs, and

finding flexible answers to new situations.

* Highly collaborative across departments, this individual will bring

excellent relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.

Must possess superb leadership capabilities and be able to interact

effectively with the executive committee and administrative staff, as

well as external constituencies and other key business leaders across the


* Persistent yet flexible; pragmatic; capable of dealing with ambiguity and

uncertainty while remaining focused on results and speed.

* A self-starter who is self-motivated disciplined, self-assured,

performance driven and passionate about digital and its role in

transforming businesses.

* Confident and self-aware with excellent interpersonal and communication

skills, both written and verbal.

* Strong leadership with the ability to articulate and inspire staff, and

the rest of the group, to pursue specific goals and targets aggressively.
