The role

At Soho House the Cost Estimator is responsible for providing expert cost analysis services for upcoming development projects and new construction. In this role, you will be required to consult with all team members, perform site visits, collect and analyze bids and data, and provide accurate estimates of project costs including labor, production time, and materials.

As the Cost Estimator you will report to the Commercial Director with a dotted line reporting structure to the Project Director with whom they will work to ensure we recruit creative, quality members and keep the magic throughout all Soho House & Co. properties.

This role will be based in US-Support office but required to travel as needed to new site locations.


Main Duties

* Business partner and operational leader that works closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand the project/program, deliverables required to achieve results and ability to maintain budget as reduce cost without losing quality

* Determine key variables for cost and other estimates

* Gather first-hand information from sites, warehouses or other venues

* Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc.

* Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting to provide stockholders updates and project overviews as needed

* Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors

* Perform risk analysis and create action items necessary to maximize profits, productivity and efficiency

* Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.)

* Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)

* Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.)

* Manage packages; externals, labor only, facades, groundworks internal fir out office and residential, FF&E , IT, AV packages, valuing up to 150M USD

* Responsible for measurements, take offs, assisting with CVRs, sub-contractor payments, final accounts and attending client meetings

* Ensure cash flow is maximized including ensuring payments are received on time

* Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts

* Managing sub-contractors including sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payments

* Oversee team management including but not limited to recruitment, on-boarding, training, payroll and disciplinary procedures. Oversee staff performance, conducting appraisals and strategizing with leadership to assess performance and development while maintaining professional relationships

* Adhere to health and safety policy (I.e. IIPP, workers comp procedures, and allergy procedures) and implement, monitor and enforce compliance with all Company policies, procedures and standards and local, state and federal law as applicable

* Liaising with team to ensure projects are delivered with maximum cost efficiency

Required Skills/Qualifications:

* Minimum of 10 + years of proven experience as estimator or similar position

* Familiarity with financial and project management principles

* In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas

* Exquisite math and IT ability with an analytical mindset

* Proficient in relevant software and ability to roll out software in new environment

* Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities

* An essential part of the job is being available on a flexible schedule and being willing to work outside office hours. For example, nights, weekends and holidays (as needed and when applicable). This may or may not be required on a regular basis, but is mandatory when needed

* Thoroughness and reliability

* Excellent organizational skills
