Job Description:



The UX Designer role at Dimensional envisions how people experience our offerings and user applications, bringing that vision to life in an elegant, and inspired way. Reporting to the Digital Design Director, you will focus on discovering and understanding latent user needs, helping translate these into design, and gathering feedback from users through generative and evaluative research methods. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of business, technical and marketing resources throughout the design process, including research, ideation, prototyping, testing, and delivery to produce solutions to complex design and UX/UI problems.



Projects include defining user experiences for interactive data tools, websites, microsites, mobile apps, marketing channels, environmental exhibits, and third-party interfaces. The work ranges from large, complex UX/UI solutions to smaller efforts like creating digital artifacts to support content marketing campaigns. Flexibility, agility, and iteration are expected.

Key Responsibilities:



Primary



- Work as part of a digital design team that synthesizes direction from both creative and digital leadership and collaborates with cross-functional teams to connect client experiences across digital and traditional media



- Facilitate user-centered design workshops



- Conduct generative research to help discover user pain points and needs



- Participate in discovery sessions, interpret user and business goals and priorities, and assist in defining product requirements and user personas and journeys



- Turn findings into actionable items, and evaluate proposed solutions through usability testing.



- Create design artifacts, user flows, wireframes



- Work with internal partners to ensure projects are delivered on time and with the highest level of quality



Secondary



- Create design artifacts, user flows, wireframes, data visualizations, component libraries, and working prototypes



- Extend and maintain style guides, brand guidelines, and complex brand architectures within a flexible, component-based digital design framework



- Collaborate with the Editorial and Design teams within Creative to translate content experiences digitally.



- Partner with the Product Management and Publishing teams to understand implications to digital content creation to the publishing workflow as well as digital strategies including SEO, tagging and taxonomy, content governance, accessibility, component management, and website analytics tracking



Competencies Required:



- Expertise in human-centered design, design thinking, and research methodologies



- Expertise in UX/UI principles, design, and branding



- Experience with Agile/Scrum development process and digital content strategies



- Hands-on experience with project deliverables, such as discovery findings, heuristic evaluations, information architecture, wireframes, interaction specifications, and user interface guides



- Prior experience working with content experts, writers, and graphic designers to create digital artifacts that visually convey key messaging



- Prior experience creating and consolidating UI components and reusable interaction patterns to form coherent design systems, libraries or guidelines



- Solid understanding of and expertise working with web standards, responsive frameworks, typography, grids, visual layout, data visualization, and brand systems



- A strong understanding of web design best practices, usability techniques, and the technical capabilities and limitations of the web



- Proficiency in a broad range of user experience solutions, including component reusability and portability, social sharing user flows, accessibility, SEO, and multi-channel marketing



- Proficiency in Sketch, InVision, and Adobe Creative Suite. Proficiency with Figma a plus.



- Strong written and oral communication skills



- A pixel-level attention to detail



- Familiarity with web or mobile based technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android Studio, XCode, etc.



- Experience with front-end development and content management systems (experience with Sitecore CMS is a plus)



- Experience designing for traditional media a plus



- Financial planning, investment industry, or economics experience a plus



- Experience using ClickDimensions or other email marketing platforms a plus



Educational Background:



B.F.A. in Design, Human-Computer Interaction or equivalent preferred but not required
