Distribution Contract Manager
Derbyshire – with UK travel
Package: c£30 – 33,000 + company car
Excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a recognized name within the logistics sector. In this role, you will be running an operational section of the business, overseeing all distribution activity at several UK sites. This is a very hands-on role and you will be required to be readily available and to get involved. You’ll make sure that your teams are engaged, well managed and perform to the highest standards and that a cost-effective service is delivered to the customer safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage all aspects of the client contract including teams of people
* Have a clear operational plan, meeting the client’s standards and expectations
* Manage a team of core fleet drivers and shunters – hold regular briefings and meetings
* Monitoring core fleet, ensuring correct and effective planning
* Fleet management, maintenance and associated administration
* Looking for ways in which to reduce cost, improve service etc
* Ensure customer delivery targets are achieved in a high-pressure manufacturing environment
* Team management – controlling holidays/absence/grievances/disciplinary matters
* Ensuring all driver training is current
* Negotiating rates with sub-contractors for speciality loads
Candidate Requirements:
* Excellent management style – encouraging, inspiring and enabling the team around you to be the very best they can be
* Previous experience in managing people within a distribution environment
* Strong numerical skills and commercial abilities
* A good understanding of reporting and recording performance statistics
* Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate at all levels
* Ideally - previous experience within the third-party logistics sector, with a direct involvement in the control of drivers and sub-contractors
* Flexibility and ability to be mobile – there will be travel to other UK sites and overnight stays
