Workshop Technician - £15.50 per hour - Merton - 40 hours per week - World Leading Waste Management Company

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Technician from a HGV mechanical background to join a World Class business in the waste to energy sector.

With long term contracts, in an industry which has consistently grown with no sign of slow down, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

You will join a team of dedicated Technicians on site, offering a full range of service, maintenance and repair, working on a modern fleet of commercial vehicles and mechanical sweepers.

Key Responsibilities

As the Workshop Technician you will:

Be required to inspect, service, and repair the full range of vehicles and equipment as directed, in line with OEM minimum standards.

Maintain, prepare, and present vehicles for annual MOT testing and complete all aspects of inspection documentation.

Quarantine and report defective equipment, and maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Be capable of working independently without direct supervision.

Attend all safety briefs and conduct checks on all tools and equipment before use.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

City & Guilds Level 3 in HGV Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent engineering qualification)

Hold an LGV licence and have experience in the use of diagnostic tools (eg: TEXA, STAR, EASY etc)

Major component overhaul skills (Gearbox, Engine, Braking systems)

Must possess personal basic tool kit (spanners, sockets, screwdrivers, etc)

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Hold or be willing to achieve IRTEC “Service Maintenance Technician” accreditation

Experience maintaining waste vehicles preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

A valid DCPC qualification is preferred but not essential
