Food Education and Catering Manager
Salary - £10.44 per hour
Hours - 10-12 hours a week, term time only, with some occasional hours in school holidays.
Closing date - 3 pm on 12 October 2018
Interview date(s) - 19th October 2018
Required 15th November 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Orleton School Food CIC works with three local primary schools to provide healthy lunches, breakfasts and snacks. We are a not-for-profit and we re-use any profit generated from the meals to improve our service and to support gardening, cooking and healthy eating education in the three schools.
This is a very varied and interesting role which will combine an element of catering management with an element of school food education work, a portion of which will involve growing food in our vegetable garden.
You will manage the operation of the kitchen, including our experienced staff, and ensure they continue to meet the highest standards. You will work with the office staff and accountant to ensure all administration is completed. You will oversee our Food For Life and Eco Schools compliance and plan projects to drive those programmes forward. Finally you will work hands on with the children, providing some of the gardening, cookery and healthy eating activities.
You will therefore need experience in a professional food environment, the ability to manage people and a willingness to work with children and enthuse them about being adventurous with food.
This is an exciting, unusual and interesting job for the right candidate.
Orleton School Food CIC is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All posts are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service Disclosure.
This post is initially being recruited on fixed term contract until July 2019, but we will look to make this post permanent in future if the service is successful.
